It wasn't funny when spoken either.
But enough hilarity. Let's get straight into the positives and negatives of this dark splash of tasty.
The Golden Circle Sarsaparilla is another contender from my Regular category. Strangely the soft drink range is not displayed on the Golden Circle website. Trust me, it does exist. I drank it. And it was a different drink experience from the first contender. Yay! The comparison project has now been justified.
What I first noticed about the Golden Circle drink was that my first mouthfull took me a micro-second to register. It was a bit like "This isn't sarsaparilla ... oh wait, yes it is". Once it had registered, it was pretty good. I would say it was not as rich a taste as its Schweppes competitor but it sure did seem sweeter. To many people this probably already makes for a better sarsaparilla.
My wife for example likes sarsaparilla. But not all variations. Not everyone likes a rich and strong sarsaparilla taste. I do. This drink doesn't have that.
The presenatation is also lacking. To be fair though I believe that is the intention of the product. It is an entry level product (in the clearly high society world that is the sarsaparilla circuit). I purchased this can for under $1.00 cold. Some of the other contenders were closer to $5.00. Budget price or not, I would buy this again. I just wouldn't drink too many in one day.
At the end of the comparison I will share how this soft drink compared in regards to sugar content, protein and the likes. Stay tuned. The graph and stats I'm sure will astound. Or not.
