Cascade Traditional Sarsaparilla—Contender #4

I mentioned in my article on Golden Circle's sarsaparilla that not everybody likes a strong flavoured drink. My wife is one of those people. I know this and she should know this. Still, when I started my next bottle of sarsaparilla tonight she insisted on tasting it as well. I tried to warn her that the Cascade Traditional Sarsaparilla was a rich and powerful drop of sars. She didn't listen.

"Oh f#@k that's awful!"

As is often the case, my wife was wrong. This is another really good sarsaparilla.

Just to clarify, my wife is a big fan of one of the contenders in my list. But to this day I have not known her to really like any other sarsaparilla. Not like me. I seem to love them all. So much so that I believe I can remain impartial even if drinking sarsaparilla during the day outside of the competition environment. A friend and colleague today suggested this was impossible (even suggesting this competition should be called farsaparilla). I laugh at this suggestion. Laugh I say!

So impartial am I, that I can say with something resembling certainty—which I assume looks just like a winking man pointing a smug hand-formed gun at you—today's contender is up there with the best I've had so far. Cascade Traditional Sarsaparilla is a beautiful and powerful sarsaparilla drink. It does not rely on it's sugary taste or high carbon count to win votes. It relies strongly on its sarsaparilla taste. A taste it serves like a not-so-subtle punch in the mouth.

I would say it was a pleasant surprise to be honest. The drink can often be found with its sibling products which are incredibly sweet (ice cream, creaming soda and lime flavours for example). To have this offering instead rely on its awesome taste is ... awesome.

I am also a big fan of the design of this product. Stylish and modern. With an old-age edge as well. Every graphic designer's worst nightmare when it come to a design brief. Kudos to you Cascade. You've kept this competition alive (no matter what else I drink during the day).
